Assignments and Projects

Module 2 - Pathways (wireframes & flow charts)

Instructions

Part 1 - WIREFRAMES

  1. Select a URL (website) to 'map'. Share your URL as a clickable link in your comments for your submission.

  2. Create three simple wireframes of ONE page of the website (preferably one that shows the path you take).

  3. State what it is you are trying to do on this page. What's your goal? (This should be in comments)

Note: The wireframe that you create can be on paper or digital. If you sketch on paper, take a picture or scan it to upload to Canvas.

Part 2 - FLOWCHART

  1. Create a 'pathway' (very simple, like flowchart) of how to do what you are trying to do on the site.

  2. You do NOT have to spell out every single choice, but you should indicate your choices and that there are other choices. For example, if you're trying to buy socks at Macy's, you don't have to indicate every type of sock. Just indicate your path (Ex: Clothing > Accessories > Socks).

Submission

Submit the assignment on Canvas doing the following:

  • Name the file in this way: LastnameF_WF01 and LastnameF_WF02

  • You can submit two separate files or you can use multi-page document like PDF

File Requirement

Any standard file type is accepted

Module 5 - Design Mock-Up

This assignment challenges you to create a Design proposal (mocks) & summary.

Instructions

In the last modules, you already completed Part 1 & 2 of the Design Proposal. Here you will complete Part 3 &4

Part 3: Mocks of Proposed Redesign

Create visual mock ups illustrating the updated design you've proposed in your SOW

  • Must include at least 1 rough wireframe for the proposed layout

  • Must include at least 2 mockup screens, including a home page, that show your design

  • Mocks must reflect your solutions to the critical issues you called out in your critique and SOW

Optional but encouraged

  • Include a "before" and "after" that shows the old version of the site/app next to your new, proposed version.

  • Include a full social media proposal as part of the overall site presence.

    • Recommend specific social media options tailored to the site. For example, Twitter might be useful for sharing coupons for a store, Instagram might be useful for a beauty salon.

Part 4: Summary

Sometimes it's helpful to remind clients why you'red doing this, especially when your proposed design could be radically different from what they're used to seeing and it's an expensive project. Reminding them of the context of how your updates will fix the issues you previously called out can help set them at ease.

Alongside your mock ( or in the text section for this assignment), reiterate the need for this redesign and the positive effect it will have on the business.

Submission Requirements
Please, submit the assignment on Canvas doing the following:

  • File Name: Please, name the files using the name convention: LastnameF_M5_A1

Instructions

  • If the content of your survey feeds into your project (ie. how do you find out if a book you want is at the local library?), great, but personal/fun surveys are always welcome.

  • At least one question must ask about some (relevant) demographic information (age bracket like 18-25, 26-35, etc.) to help you see how your results spread across demographics.

Submission Requirements

  • Write between 5 and 10 survey questions, no more.

  • Upload your survey link in your submission
