Tiffany Hanke - Petet

Children and Pets Project

OBJECTIVE: Children and pets are some of the most popular subjects for photography, but also the most difficult. They tend not to stay still and do what they're told to do, and it is hard to arrange lighting around a moving target. As a result, many pictures of children and pets are blurry, poorly exposed and poorly composed. The goal of this assignment is to take three pictures of children &/or pets in focus, sharp, well exposed and well composed.

DESCRIPTION:This project challenges you to take 3 pictures of children &/or pets, keeping in mind:

The posing/expression of your subject - do they look natural? are you capturing a moment? are you making a portrait?

The lighting - do I have sufficient light to take this picture quickly enough that it is not blurry? Is the lighting interesting or dramatic?

Is your picture well composed? Is the subject inside the frame, with no bits hanging off? (cat ears, tails and paws are frequently breaking the edge of the frame) Remember, you can always crop closer in later, but you can never expand a photo beyond what you have when you take the picture. IF the subject has parts hanging off, do you mean for them to be? (Cropping certain things to improve a composition is fine - losing an ear because the cat moved its head is not) If a human subject, are all face and arms inside the frame? (think of it like a roller coaster, you don't want a head or arm sticking out where it could get cut off) If you cropped the body, is it in a good place? Above or below the waist, not directly on it is an example.

REQUIREMENT:Take 1 of these three photos and adjust it in photoshop. Include the original and adjusted photo. You MAY adjust the other photos as well, but I want to see at least ONE before and ONE after (of the same shot).

SUBMISSION: So, you will be turning in four images total (750px one side):

1 -Picture 1 - LastnameF_CP01.jpg 2 - picture

2 -Picture 2 - LastnameF_CP02.jpg

3 -Picture 3 - LastnameF_CP03.jpg.
